Greenwood School Board Discusses Possible Referendum

Thursday, December 19th, 2019 -- 9:52 AM

-The Greenwood School Board heard a report on the 2019-20 Crystal Apple Teachers of Distinction.

Greenwood Teachers Michelle Ericksen, Special Education teacher at the elementary school, and Jenny Hafermann, a middle school teacher, have been recognized with the award. The board also reviewed and discussed several possible scenarios for a referendum to exceed the state revenue limit. The current referendum will end after the 2020-2021 budget. The board will be looking to a possible April 2020 referendum. The administration was directed to prepare two resolutions for the January board meeting. The board also approved Janay Ziebell as a substitute teacher and 5 volunteers. The board also approved the FFA Rodeo Trip to the Twin Cities on January 24th-25th and the High School Band/Choir trip to Madison March 27th-28th.

Finally the board approved an FMLA request from Matt Hessell. During the communication portion of the meeting, a community member suggested that there needs to be concerted effort on the part of school districts, towns, county, etc. to work together to bring more business and industry into the county. Also, two community members shared concerns about animal showing for the 2020 Fair.
