USDA Will Survey More Than 41,000 Cattle Operations

Thursday, December 19th, 2019 -- 9:47 AM

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -The USDA will survey more than 41,000 cattle operations across the country next month to provide an up-to-date measure of U.S. cattle inventories.

State Agriculture Statistician Greg Bussler says the effort helps producers make timely, informed business decisions and plan for herd expansion or reduction. During the first two weeks of January, Wisconsin producers will have the opportunity to report their beef and dairy cattle inventories, calf crop, death loss and the number of cattle on feed.

Bussler says the information helps producers make timely, informed marketing decisions and plan for herd expansion or reduction. The January Cattle report will be released on January 31.
