(WRN) -Efforts to prevent the state from removing 234-thousand voters from the rolls are headed to federal court.Attorney General Josh Kaul on behalf of the Elections Commission filed notice Tuesday that it would appeal, and is seeking to stay last week's order by an Ozaukee County that it immediately remove the names of voters who may have moved. On Monday, the commission voted three-to-three along party lines not to purge the names within seven days of Judge Paul Malloy's formal order.
The case, stemming from a lawsuit by the conservative Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty, could still go before the state Supreme Court. Also on Tuesday, the League of Women Voters of Wisconsin sued in federal court to try to halt the purge of voter names.
