Baldwin says that money is better spent helping the millions of victims that the aggressive marketing of Oxycontin damaged.
"Purdue Pharma's intentionally deceptive opioid marketing campaign accelerated an epidemic that has claimed an estimated 400-thousand lives."
Baldwin says that money ought to be going to recovery efforts across the country to help stem the damage caused by opiate addictions.
"This is just wrong, and disrespectful to the people who've been hurt by the opioid crisis."
The Sackler Family which used to own the company is being accused of funneling over 12 billion dollars in profits out of Purdue even while it was being investigated as part of the opioid epidemic.
