Clark County Has 2nd Highest Oat Production for 2019

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -New estimates from the USDA give us an indication of what counties produced the most winter wheat and oat crops during the past growing season.The agency says Manitowoc County was once again the largest winter wheat producing county in Wisconsin in 2019 with about 778,000 bushels. Fond du Lac and Kewaunee Counties were second and third; with east central Wisconsin being the largest wheat producing district. Fond du Lac County was also the highest yielding county at 76.7 bushels per acre. Iowa and Columbia Counties had the next two highest yields at 74.7 and 72.7 bushels, respectively. Oconto County had the lowest yield at 41.7 bushels per acre. Columbia County had the greatest increase in yield with a 8.5 bushels per acre jump from the previous growing season. Kenosha was the county with the largest drop in yield after falling 29.9 bushels per acre.
In 2019, Langlade County was the largest oat-producing county with 789,000 bushels. Clark County was second with 215,000 bushels harvested. Winnebago County had the highest yield in the state with 82.9 bushels per acre, followed by Jefferson County with 73.8 and Langlade County at 71.1 bushels per acre. Dodge Counties recorded average yields over 70.0 bushels per acre.
