(Hub City Times) -A home at 8371 Mill Creek Drive, Marshfield, is a total loss after a Dec. 13 fire. The fire occurred in the late morning hours and blocked off traffic as multiple departments battled the blaze. “It was a residential fire called in by a passerby or a neighbor,” said Hewitt Fire Chief Brian Haferman. “We got on scene, and they had some heavy smoke, fire. We went to the defensive attacks from the exterior to extinguish the fire. The house was a vertical log house, which added some challenges to the extinguishment which is why it took so long and so many departments.”
Haferman said that there were no injuries and the house is a total loss. Hewitt, Auburndale, Stratford, McMillan, Spencer, town of Lincoln, town of Rock, Cameron, Richfield, Arpin, Vesper, and Rudolph fire departments responded, along with the Marshfield Fire & Rescue ambulance. “It was a very labor-intensive fire fight,” Haferman added.
