Neillsville City Council Hears Report of Officers and More

-The Neillsville City Council heard a few reports and other communications at their meeting on Tuesday.

The council heard the Officer’s Report. For the month of November, the department had 88 reports/cases, 62 service calls, 35 traffic citations, 39 traffic warnings, 1 crash investigation, 11 ordinance citations, 7 adult arrests, no cases referred to the district attorney, 2 juvenile cases and 30 parking citations. Those numbers were mostly in line with November of last year. The council also heard the Public Works Report. For the past couple weeks, the usual amount of work was done in the city including one burial, equipment maintenance, cemetery and parks maintenance, snow and ice removal, finished putting up Christmas decorations, trimming and pruning trees, maintaining street lighting, filling pot holes, hauling brush and compost, and they turned on the Christmas decorations and fixed the broken ones. They also did some lift station and sewer plant maintenance. They did bar screen maintenance and they worked on some sewer backups.

Finally, they winterized the fire hydrants, did meter readings, and did two service repairs. The council heard the Beautification Committee Report from December 3rd. At that meeting, they discussed the winners of the tree decorating contest and they approved the Prock Park Sign. The council also heard the Police & Fire Commission Report from December 4th and the Personnel Committee Report, which was held before the regular Common Council Meeting. The city’s police chief search and the city hall custodian position were discussed respectively. Finally, the mayor offered his support and thanks to the city crew for all the Christmas decorations. The city attorney also mentioned a slight snag in the sale of the Industrial Park property to Xcel Energy.
