Owen-Withee School Board Hears Administrators' Intentions

-The Owen-Withee School Board heard the Administrators’ Intentions at their meeting on Monday.All three administrators have submitted letters indicating that they plan to return for the 2020-21 school year. B. Also, Peter Devine submitted a request to offer a new course to juniors and seniors entitled, “Interactive History.” This will be a project based course that stresses critical thinking. The board approved the course offering on a unanimous voice vote. The 2020-21 school calendar was also presented to the board. For the next 30 days, the calendar will be reviewed and discussed. Final approval of the 20-21 calendar will be at the January board meeting.
Elementary Principal Lance Batchelor and District Administrator Bob Houts reviewed the lockdown drill that was conducted on December 3rd. The drill went very well. A few new things were learned through review of the process by admins and teachers that will prompt some changes. Finally, the two negotiating groups, teachers and support staff, voted to renew their certification as a union. For the purpose of base wage negotiations, the district will continue to negotiate with the OWEA.
