He says Speaker Nancy Pelosi has been dragging her feet far too long on reaching an agreement.
"Even though they recognize USMCA is good for the economy, they don't want to give Trump a big economic win heading into an election year."
Gallagher says one major win for Wisconsin is a breaking of protectionist tariffs on dairy products.
"You know it, it's critical that we're able to sell Wisconsin dairy, Wisconsin cheese all around the world, and this will help us to continue to do that."
House Democrats will be moving the U S M C A trade deal with Canada and Mexico to a vote next week, and Congressman Mike Gallagher is pleased with the move.
"I'm glad we got to a compromise and an agreement. And no side is going to get 100 percent of what they want, but you can't simply say no, you've got to offer a positive solution."
Gallagher says there's some new, stronger protections for Wisconsin farmers and workers, and that the deal will ensure that Wisconsin dairy has a chance to compete in Canada.
