Marshfield's City Council Elections Already Taking Shape

Tuesday, December 10th, 2019 -- 11:47 AM

(Hub City Times) -Marshfield’s spring 2020 election is already starting to take shape, and City Clerk Deb Hall says two members of the city’s common council will be stepping down.

According to Hall, “We have two incumbents that have filed non-candidacy papers, and that would be District 3 Alderperson Chris Jockheck, and District 5 Alderperson Steve Mac Swain.” Hall says two others already have an eye on those open seats, including long-time alderman Ed Wagner, who held the District 5 seat from 2006-18. “Ed Wagner has taken out papers for District 5, and, in District 3, Quentin Rosandich has taken out papers. But again, they’re not an official candidate until nomination papers are filed.” In other city races, incumbents in the odd-numbered council districts are all planning re-election bids, as is Marshfield Mayor Bob McManus who plans on running for his second term.

No challengers have stepped forward for any of those races, but Hall says there’s still about a month left to file. “They have until 5:00 on Tuesday, January 7th for any City of Marshfield office,” she explained. A primary election for the District 7 U.S. Congressional race is already scheduled for Feb.18, and that will also include local races as needed. The general election will take place on April 7.
