(WDLB) -Marshfield said goodbye over the weekend to its one and only female Mayor.Memorial services were held on Saturday for Marilyn Hardacre, who died November 29th at the age of 84. Current Mayor Bob McManus was among those to eulogize Hardacre, during services held at Zion United Methodist Church. Former Marshfield Alderman Diane Wolf said no one could balance a life better than Hardacre did. Marilyn's daughter Beth Staskunas said she guided her and her three brothers by how she lived her life with a mission, passion and kindness to others.
After serving two terms on the Marshfield Common Council, Hardacre served four terms in the Mayor's office, before serving as the Marshfield Chamber Director for 11 years until her retirement in 1997. She also served on many boards and foundations, led many philanthropic and fundraising efforts, and was a major transportation advocate--playing pivotal roles in the development of the near-east boulevard project and the expansion of Highway 10 to a four-lane expressway to Marshfield.
