UNEMPLOYMENT RATE DOWN IN MARCH

'Wisconsin's' unemployment rate for March was down ? way down. The Department of Workforce Development announced that all but 4 of 'Wisconsin's' 72 counties experienced their lowest unemployment rate for the month of March since 2001.The state?s March unemployment rate was 5.5% last month, slightly higher than the national rate of 5.4%.
Here in the area, Taylor County had the highest unemployment rate. The report shows 8.3-percent of Taylor County residents were out of work last month. Elsewhere:
Clark County - 8.1-percent unemployment rate (10th)
Jackson County 7.8-percent (13th)
Wood County 7.1% (24th)
