Congressional Cooperative Business Caucus Growing on Capitol Hill

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -The Congressional Cooperative Business Caucus is growing in numbers on Capitol Hill.The group, which was re-established during the 116th Congress, is managed by the National Cooperative Business Association-CLUSA International with the goal of driving a co-op friendly legislative agenda on the federal level. The group is co-chaired by Wisconsin Congressman Mark Pocan and Rep. Jim Baird of Indiana. As of late-November, 20 lawmakers have joined the coalition, which many feel is critical for keep cooperative business priorities top of mind when crafting and considering legislation.
The caucus is also a platform to educate Congressional staff on cooperative issues. Backers of the effort say cooperatives exist in every congressional district across the country and contributes $3 trillion into the U.S. economy each year.
