Holiday Fun in the Black River Falls Area

-With the holiday season upon us, there’s plenty of fun things to do in the Black River Falls area.I spoke with Black River Falls Chamber Director, Amanda Gunn, and she talked about their big event coming up this weekend.
Amanda: “It is the 11th Annual Christkindl Festival and that’s happening in the downtown area. There’s a whole day worth of activities. There’s a Santa’s Fun Run/Walk in the morning and that starts down by our Chamber office. Santa is making some appearances at the local banks here in town. There’s letters to Santa you can write. You can go see the Christkindl Court Coronation and the Mini-Christkindl Court Coronation at 10am downtown at 124 Main Street. There’s also selfie stations, there’s going to be reindeer on the courthouse lawn, bake sales, entertainment, and then a grand parade at 5pm.”
Riley: “And that’s happening just on Saturday, correct?”
Amanda: “Yes and everything kicks off at 8am and the parade starts at 5pm. And there are some other things going on a little bit later in the night too. The Right Place is having Karaoke and an Ugly Sweater Party from 8pm-Midnight, so that should be interesting too!”
She also said that because of the busy holiday season, they don’t have a lot of big events going on, but there are plenty of smaller holiday themed events happening in and around Black River Falls.
Amanda: “That’s kind of our big thing for the area for the holidays. Not too many other things going on right now because of the busy holiday season there’s not too many large events planned. There’s a lot of area Christmas concerts and things for the kids. But there’s also, always, an indoor farmer’s market in the winter and that takes place at our Lunda Community Center. And that’s every Saturday until December 21st and that’s from 9am-Noon. And there’s lots of different goodies there. There’s preserves, jellies, pickles, salsa, honey, baked goods, craft items, meat and cheeses and even seasonal produce there. That’s a fun thing to go to the farmers market here.”
Riley: “And it sounds like it would be a great place for people to go to if they’re looking for last minute gift items.”
Amanda: “Yes, lots of different last minute gift items! And they’re definitely unique, not something you’d find in regular stores.”
Amanda ended our interview by talking about the Jackson County ATV trails.
Amanda: “December 15th is the scheduled opening date for the ATV trails for winter riding. Not sure on the snowmobile trails yet. We have a little bit of snow, but I’m not sure there’s enough yet for a good base on the trails. Forestry and Parks updates us regularly, so people can give us a call or check out our Facebook page. We always post updates on the trails there.”
