Neillsville City Council Hears A Couple Reports

Monday, December 2nd, 2019 -- 10:44 AM

-The Neillsville City Council heard a couple reports at their meeting last week.

The council heard the Public Works Report. The usual amount of work was done in the city including cemetery and parks maintenance, equipment maintenance, burials, trimming, mulching leaves, trimming and pruning trees, maintaining street lighting, filling pot holes, hauling brush and compost, snow removal, sewer department lift and plant maintenance and more. They also cleaned the compost site and removed the fall decorations and started placing the Christmas decorations. They did some street sweeping and that is mostly complete for the year. They are also done with leaf pickup for the year. They prepared their equipment for the winter and they replaced the old banners with the new ones. They also placed the "welcome hunters" sign and removed it. Finally, they're winterizing the fire hydrants, they're checking a possible water leak on Grand Avenue and employees are using their vacation time.

The council also heard the Library Board report from their meeting on November 19th. The board heard about a possible visit from an author and a successful Thanksgiving Story Hour. The head start class will also be visiting again for stories and crafts. The board also approved the revised collection policy and they approved a donation from the Clarence Schlinkert Estate. The board also approved an increase of $2 per hour for Kathy Wagner as she will be the Interim Library Director due to the resignation of Cara Hart. Finally, they discussed some of the November events held and, due to the director's resignation, there will be no events in December.
