Saturday, November 30th, 2019 -- 8:10 AM
The Neillsville City Council discussed the 2020 Taxi Service Contract at their meeting on Tuesday. The City of Neillsville and Clark County are looking to partner again for the Neillsville and Clark County Taxi Service for 2020 and need to appyl for the 5311 grant, which assist in the funding of the service. Suzanne Schoen, from Clark County Social Services, appeared at the meeting and provided some numbers regarding Neillsville’s and the county’s taxi service. The amount they receive from the grant continues to decrease from year to year. Last year, they city’s taxi service was in use for 7,955 hours and the county service was in use for 36,000. The city pays for 69% of the cost of service and the county pays for 31%. The only day Neillsville’s service isn’t in use is Christmas Day.
Both services partner with Abby Vans and the amount paid to Abby Vans from the city and the county amounts to $26.56 per hour. Unfortunately, due to some oversight on the agenda, they could only discuss the contract as there was no action included on the agenda. It will brought back before the council at their first meeting in December. A couple other items mentioned during the communications portion of both the Public Works and Common Council meeting was that the city has been approved for radio read water meters and Xcel has accepted the cost of the land they purchased in the industrial park.
