Neillsville City Council Approves Changes to Snow and Ice Ordinance
Wednesday, November 27th, 2019 -- 10:42 AM
-The Neillsville City Council approved the change to their ordinance regarding snow and ice removal at their meeting on Tuesday. At the previous Common Council meeting, Public Works Director Dave Flynn brought the ordinance before the council asking for the change as, he felt, it wasn’t realistic to ask citizens to remove snow in front of their homes in the amount of time required in the ordinance, when the Public Works Department has a hard time removing snow within the old time frame. This change now gives residents 24 hours to remove the snow in front of their home after the snow ends. If we experience a multi-day snow storm, they must shovel their sidewalks at least once every 24 hours.
The change was approved during the Public Works portion of the meeting and then again during the regular Common Council meeting. The council also approved Natalie Erpenbach as the Chair of the Historic Preservation Commission. They also approved $16,000 from the Listeman Foundation for the Rails-to-Trails Project and they approved a safety grant from the state. The grant is worth $3,336.05 and it will be used by the Neillsville Police Department for new radios and other safety equipment.
