GRANTON FD RESPONDS TO TWO GRASS FIRES

The Granton Fire Department was called to two grass fires Thursday.The first call came in at 2:30 and was located 5-miles south of Granton on Sand Road. Sparks from a cutting torch apparently ignited some dry grass. 2-acres burned and a building caught fire, but the fire department was able to save the structure. They spent 2-hours at the scene.
Then, at 4:30 p.m., they were called to another grass fire on Miller Avenue in the Town of York, about 6-miles northwest of Granton. This fire began as a garbage fire. 25 acres of grass burned along with some machinery and old vehicles that were in the field. The crew spent 2-hours at the scene.
