Saturday, November 23rd, 2019 -- 8:46 AM
The Clark County Tourism Committee discussed the importance of biking to Wisconsin’s tourism economy at their meeting on Wednesday.Wisconsin ranks 3rd for as the most bicycle friendly state. It’s a great exercise and continues to grow each year. It also contributes $1.5 billion to the economy and creates 13,200 jobs. The committee discussed this as they continue to show support to the Neillsville Improvement Corporations’ Rails-to-Trails project, which will create a biking and hiking trail from Neillsville to Chili.
Some other items mentioned at the meeting included marketing flyers for each community and some changes to the county economic development’s website making buildings and land available more prominent on the site. They also discussed the county foundation and a new donation initiative called the Giving Circle Fund.
Finally, the group heard an update on PBS filming in Clark County. PBS is doing a special on Clark County’s communities and their connection to the ag industry. They are filming all four seasons in Wisconsin and began in the fall. They will be in the area again this week, filming during hunting season and around Thanksgiving.
