D N R Big game ecologist Kevin Wallenfang says if you need to find a new place to hunt, the DNR can help.
"Believe me, there are a couple hundred acres out there for every person here that doesn't have a place to hunt, they can find it."
Wallenfang says the DNR maintains a number of lists of both public and private lands that are open to hunters.
"Look for 'a place to hunt' or 'public lands' or there's a variety of ways you can get to those resources, but there's a lot of great information right on the department website."
Wallenfang says hunters should remember their manners and courtesy when hunting on public or private lands
"It's always important to respect that property. Don't litter out there, don't leave garbage in the woods, don't wreck their fences. If you go through a gate, you close the gate."
