Owen City Council Approves Pay Requests

-The Owen City Council approved a pay request at their meeting last week.The council approved the final pay request in the amount of $51,977.80 to Francis Melvin Inc to complete the Colman Sanitary Sewer Project. They also approved the pay request to Haas and Sons for the amount of $140,022.18 for the 2019 Street Improvement Project. The project will be completed in the Spring. The council approved the proposal from Bowmar Appraisal for the years 2020-2022, with a cost of $7,300, $7,450, and $7,650 respectively with that last year being an optional year. The council also approved the Spectrum Insurance proposal for 2020 Auto and General Liability at $10,698 and Worker’s Compensation at $7,285, at a total cost of $17,983. It was suggested the city do comparison costs for next year.
The council also approved a resolution to approve borrowing in the amount of $449,476.40 from the Board of the Commissioners of Public Lands Trust Fund for the 2019 Street Project that is underway. Finally, the council was presented a draft copy of the 2020 budget. The council was asked to review and contact the clerk or Finance Committee members if they have questions or concerns. Budget will be on the agenda for approval at the November 26th Council meeting. They also heard some brief information from the mayor regarding some training he did.
