(WRN) -We Energies' residential customers will see bills will increase by nearly two-and-a-half percent, under a rate increase approved by state regulators Thursday. That's part of an overall rate increase of 1-point-3 percent for electric rates and a 28 percent increase in gas rates approved by the Public Service Commission last month. The increase in electric rates will be the first for We Energies in four years and goes into effect January 1st.
We Energies did not yet have an estimate, but for the typical residential customer, whose electric bills average about 100 dollars a month, it works out to about 2-50 a month, or 30 dollars a year.
