Granton Village Board Discusses Highway K Construction
Friday, November 15th, 2019 -- 11:49 AM
-The Granton Village Board discussed water and sewer upgrades on Highway K at their meeting on Wednesday.According to the unofficial minutes of the meeting, in 2022 the Clark County Highway Department is scheduled to repair County Road K. The village will be responsible for the costs of the parking lane and any curb and gutter repair or installation along the road. The water and sewer lines running under County Road K were installed in the 1940’s. The village plans on testing the lines to evaluate the condition and, if replacement is indicated, a major project will ensue. The village used MSA Engineering for the Tower, Scada and Lift Station project completed in 2017. Although the village had some problems with the engineer, all agreed the grant writers were phenomenal. The village began talking to Cooper Engineering at the end of the last project completion due to their dissatisfaction with MSA.
Although the board really likes the engineer, it was noted the village worked with Cooper Engineering years ago with the Maple Street project. There was a problem with them staying within budget and the expected costs was way over the bid cost. The board discussed the engineering firms in detail but no motion was made to hire one at this time. The village will have the water lines tested, review the curb and gutter and discuss in greater detail at the next board meeting.
