Owen Withee School Board Discusses WASB Meeting and More
Friday, November 15th, 2019 -- 9:39 AM
-The Owen-Withee School Board approved changing the start time of their December meeting at their meeting on Monday. There was a conflict with the December meeting and the elementary Christmas Concert. The board voted to keep the board meeting on Monday, December 9th, but they will start the meeting at 8:00pm instead of the usual 7:00pm. Also, the board members who attended the WASB Regional Meeting in the Wausau area on Oct. 24 shared their experience. The consensus was the it was good to see other board members for the area and to get information about educational initiatives being undertaken around the state. The board also reviewed the Special Education Manual. District policy requires that the Special Education manual be reviewed each year, highlighting any new adaptations from the state or federal levels. Review of the manual by the board identified no now requirements.
The board also approved the hire of Marlon Pogodzinski as the C-Team boys coach contingent on the need for three teams. The board also reviewed the status of the football team including the projected numbers for the 2020 season and their placement in the Marawood Conference. Options are limited because of new initiatives at the WIAA which prevent moving to 8-man football or cooping for two years. The board was interested in looking at running some kind of modified schedule, but will leave that up to the coaches and administration.
