(WRN) -Governor Tony Evers has named a long time state administrator to lead the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection while he looks for a new secretary.Interim DATCP secretary Randy Romanksi says he'll be happy to continue the work that Brad Pfaff started this year.
"The Governor consistently talks about connecting the dots. Connecting the dots between farmers and consumers, connecting the dots between different agencies in Wisconsin so we can better serve the public."
Romanksi says the efforts of his predecessor in the position give the ag department a steady place to continue while a replacement for Brad Pfaff is found.
"I'll work hard to repay his confidence in me and us and our team, and to continue the good work that Brad [Pfaff] has started here in the agency."
Romanski says his appointment is greatly appreciated by the staff.
"I think they genuinely appreciated the opportunity to hear from the governor. It shows he cares about the staff here and the work that they do."
Romanski is a former head of the ag department under Governor Jim Doyle. Governor Evers hasn't said who he'll be picking as a new nominee yet. Governor Tony Evers named Romanski to the position on Thursday. Evers says Republicans were amoral in voting against confirmation of Pfaff.
