(WRN) -Senator Tammy Baldwin says she has concerns that members of the Republican caucus are already lining up to say they won't vote to convict the President in impeachment hearings.Senator Tammy Baldwin says she's concerned that her Republican colleagues in the Senate are already drawing lines ahead of a House impeachment inquiry. Baldwin says that's not how things work under the US Constitution.
"Should the Articles of Impeachment be sent from the House to the Senate, every Senator is going to have to take an oath to do impartial justice."
Baldwin says that if the House sends over Articles of Impeachment, Senators will have to take an oath to act as an impartial jury.
"And then make a judgement on the case in front of us based on our Constitutional responsibilities to put our country first, and based on the evidence presented."
Baldwin says she's troubled by comments from a number of Republican senators that they've already made their decisions.
"And I think it is harmful to the process, as it is spelled out in our Constitution, to try and prejudge this."
The House is moving forward with its first open testimony of the impeachment inquiry next week.
