(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -Members of the Wisconsin Assembly will soon vote a proposal that would provide funding for the state's agriculture department to test industrial hemp being grown by farmers.Under a bill sponsored by Sen. Patrick Testin of Stevens Point, DATCP would be given additional resources to cover the cost of hiring private firms to test THC levels in hemp. State and federal regulations allow farmers to grow hemp as long as the crop contains less than 0.3 percent of THC, a drug most often found in marijuana.
Wisconsin currently has just one testing facility with the ability to test hemp once its harvested. Governor Evers has indicated that he would support the measure if it reaches his desk.
