LEESON MOTOR TECHNOLOGIES TO LAYOFF 40
Tuesday, April 5th, 2005 -- 8:24 AM
40 Neillsville Leeson Motor Technologies workers have been told they will soon be out of a job. On Monday, Regal-Beloit Corporation announced plans to consolidate a segment of motor production from their Neillsville plant to Black River Falls. In a press release, Regal-Beloit stated a ?soft? market for the 48 and 56 frame motors made it difficult to justify having them produced in both locations.
The 40 employees will be without a job as of June 3rd. There will be no ?phasing out? of the workers and seeing Leeson doesn?t plan to add jobs in Black River Falls, there are no immediate plans to offer relocation to the terminated workers.
According to the Clark County Economic Development Corporation?s website, Leeson Motor Technologies employs 120 people at its facilities in Neillsville, making it the fourth largest employer in the city behind the County, The Fleetguard-Nelson divisions and Memorial Medical Center.
