(WRN) -"It's not going to happen," state Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald says of a special session on gun control bills.Fitzgerald said Tuesday he plans to quickly end the special session called by Governor Tony Evers. The Juneau Republican said he'll likely gavel out of the session within moments of convening it, and that he sees no need for hearings because majority Republicans oppose the bills.
Evers said Monday that he was ordering the special session because Republicans had ignored proposals to require background checks for nearly all gun buys, and establish a "red-flag law" that would allow courts to temporarily take guns away from people deemed dangerous.
