The Loyal School Board approved some coaches at their meeting on Wednesday.The board approved several winter coaches for the upcoming middle/high school basketball seasons. They also reviewed minutes from the Technology Committee and discussed the latest Strategic Plan tech meeting. A special meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 30th to finalize the 2019-20 budget and set the tax levy.
The board also heard the Administrators’ Reports. Elementary Principal Nancy Popp commented on the Boy Scout recruiter, Homecoming activities, Starlab, an intro to band for 5th graders, various field trips, data meetings for Title, Friday’s in-service, the Asian drum assembly and SOLES fundraising success. High School Principal Chris Lidner joined in on homecoming and detailed the in-service work on PLCs, guided reading, and Paul Larson’s coaching.
He also mentioned a writing concern for male students and stressing measurements. Also highlighted were the music review, one-act play success, FFA and FCCLA conferences, Cloverbelt sportsmanship, fall sports regular season wrap-up followed by WIAA tournaments.
The board also accepted the resignation of board member Jeff Acker. They will post this opening for a week asking for a ‘Letter of Interest’ from candidates living north of Hwy. 98. At the October 30th meeting the board will appoint a replacement with the term of office expiring at the April election.
