Sunday, October 13th, 2019 -- 7:45 AM
Central Fire & EMS Chief Joe Mueller was honored Thursday with the First Responder of the Year award for the 69th Assembly District.According to Focus On Marshfield, the honor is part of the Hometown Heroes program where individuals who make a difference in their community can be nominated to a state representative for consideration. If selected, they are invited as a special guest at the Assembly floor session. Mueller has served as the Abbotsford, Colby, and Dorchester communities as chief since November 2018 and has over 35 years of firefighting experience, serving numerous roles throughout the years. Lyn Mueller, Firefighter/EMS and Joe’s wife, submitted the nomination for consideration due to his dedication to the community, which she said is supported by a great crew.
“It’s not Joe himself, it’s the members of the department,” she said. “Everyone works very well together, but if it wasn’t the backing and the support that he has in the members, he wouldn’t be able to be the good leader that he is today. This is a great family that we have and there’s so much trust in one another. The great team that we have, to support him in his role, that’s what gets him through.”
