REMINDER: Neillsville Students Can Participate in International Walk to School Day Tomorrow

-Tomorrow, October 2nd, Neillsville student will have the chance to participate in International Walk to School Day.This event aims to raise awareness for healthy physical activity, concern for the environment, and bicycle/pedestrian safety. Local organizations supporting Walk to School Day include St. John’s Lutheran School, Neillsville School District, Neillsville Optimist Club, Clark County Health Department, Clark County Eat Right, Be Fit Committee, and the Clark County Planning & Zoning Department. In Neillsville, there are seven routes student can follow. They include a route for St. John’s and they’ll meet at the IGA parking lot at 7:30am. Six routes and meeting spots are for Neillsville School District. They are the corner of W. 8th and Grand at 7:35AM; the United Church of Christ parking lot at 7:30AM; St. Mary’s Catholic Church parking lot at 7:30AM; the IGA parking lot at 7:35AM; the Hardee’s Parking Lot at 7:30AM; and the Neillsville Country Club parking lot at 7:45AM.
If children decided to walk, they’re encouraged to wear red to show support for the initiative. Also, they need to be safe by walking together in an orderly manner, be seen, look for traffic, cross the street safely and obey all traffic signals and adult crossing cards. For motorist in the Neillsville area tomorrow morning, you need to be extra attentive.
