Marshfield's Development Services Working to Create More Developable and Desirable Residential Lots

Tuesday, September 24th, 2019 -- 11:32 AM

(Hub City Times) -Marshfield’s Development Services department says that the city has a shortage of developable and desirable residential lots in the city limits, adding that the shortage has limited building options for those desiring new home construction.

Officials say that the primary reason for this shortage is the high cost of expanding infrastructure. A Housing Incentive Policy Program was approved by the Marshfield Common Council on Aug. 27 to help address that issue, and encourage the development of new homes. The Economic Development Board and Common Council have committed $500,000 in 2020 to assist developers in the expansion of infrastructure needed to open up new residential lots.
