Wisconsin Maple Syrup Producers Association Holding Annual Winter Institute in Marshfield

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -The Wisconsin Maple Syrup Producers Association is holding its annual winter institute early next year to update members and producers about new trends and issues facing their industry.

The two-day forum is being planned for January 10-11 at Hotel Marshfield in Marshfield, where the theme will be 'Sharing Our Experiences to Market Nature's Finest Product - Maple Syrup.' Stephanie Snyder Ph. D., who is a research scientist with the USDA Forest Service, will be the main speaker. She will discuss her research on private forest landowners, including adaptation strategies by maple syrup producers. Kathy Hopkins from the University of Maine Cooperative Extension will put on a one-day Maple Grading School. And there will also be a wide range of speakers discussing topics like getting started in the maple industry, tips for writing grant applications, and state regulations and licensing.

A trade show, award presentations and the Maple Queen Coronation will also be held during the conference. The cost to attend is $40 for WMSPA members, $65 for non-members, and $15 for students. For more information about the winter institute meeting or to register, call 920-680-9320.
