Neillsville City Council Hears Officer's Report

-The Neillsville City Council heard the Officer’s Report at their meeting last week.

Interim Chief Patrick Felhman reported that for the month of August the department had 102 complaints, 86 service calls, 62 traffic citations, 91 traffic warnings, 2 crash investigations, 20 ordinance citations, l8 adult arrests, 1 cases referred to the district attorney, 3 juvenile cases and 16 parking citations. He also provided a few numbers in regards to traffic stops regarding ATVs and UTVs as the council was reviewing keeping city streets open for their use. They had 13 overall violations, 4 complaints phone in and 3 OWI investigations. The council also heard the Public Works Report. The department had 4 burials, cemetery and parks maintenance, equipment maintenance, mowing and trimming, preparing ball fields, trimming and pruning trees, maintaining street lighting, filling pot holes, hauling brush and compost, street sweeping and more.

The department also is continuing to work on clearing trails in the Listeman Arboretum due to recent storms. They are also going to start the work on the lights for the walkway in Schuster Park. The department is continuing to try and work with residents regarding tripping hazards on sidewalks. The Sewer Department completed installing three manholes on Clay Street and the Water Department is reading meters. Finally, it was mentioned that the department is having a hard time with some street construction issues as the rain continues to wash away gravel and even curb and gutter. They are continuing to work on the issues and complete the projects.
