Marshfield Woman Convicted by a Jury of Reckless Homicide

-A Marshfield woman facing a homicide charge for selling fentanyl-laced heroin to a 22-year-old Spencer man was convicted by a jury after a 4-day trial.According to court records, Cassandra Staab, who was already facing eight drug related charges when the incident occurred, sold the heroin to Thomas Bychinski which resulted in his death on January 31st of 2017. An autopsy determined that fentanyl was in his system. A jury trial began on Tuesday of this week.
It concluded yesterday and, after deliberating for two hours, the jury convicted Staab of 1st degree reckless homicide and 1st degree recklessly endangering safety. A sentencing date hasn’t been set yet. If sentenced to the maximum amount, Staab could face 52 years in prison.
