Nestle Laying Off 126 Wisconsin Employees

Saturday, September 7th, 2019 -- 7:32 AM

(Marshfield News Herald) -Nestlé USA Inc. and its Dreyer’s ice cream unit will eliminate 126 Wisconsin jobs, including 64 jobs combined in Appleton and Medford, Nestlé told state officials Friday.

The company will close plants in the two northern Wisconsin communities by Dec. 31, and will reduce employment by another 62 jobs at facilities in Delavan and Sussex in southeastern Wisconsin. The layoff at Nestlé's Medford site, 904 S. Whelen Ave., will affect 32 employees. The same number of jobs will be cut at the Appleton facility, 3900 Freedom Road.

The layoffs come as Nestlé scraps its system of delivering ice cream and frozen pizzas directly to stores. With the change, the company will cut about 4,000 jobs across the country, Bloomberg has reported. The first Wisconsin layoffs are expected to occur on Nov. 1, the company said in its notice to the state.
