DEADLY WEEKEND FOR SNOWMOBILERS
Monday, February 28th, 2005 -- 11:54 AM
Four people were killed in separate Wisconsin snowmobile accidents during the weekend, two of them in Vilas County and the other two in Forest County. A 23-year-old man, whose name was still being withheld Monday, was killed early Sunday in an accident on Morton Lake in the town of Presque Isle. The victim was a passenger in a snowmobile that came in contact with the shoreline as it was being operated at a high rate of speed, and he was found lying on the ground adjacent to the vehicle. Alcohol and extreme speed were contributing factors in the crash and the operator of the snowmobile, a 23-year-old Delafield man, was seriously injured, Kennedy said. The lieutenant said the snowmobile involved in the accident was categorized as a single-seat vehicle. A 50-year-old Illinois man, whose name also was still being withheld Monday, was killed Saturday night in an accident involving two snowmobiles on Little St. Germain Lake in the town of St. Germain. The operator of the second snowmobile, a 39-year-old Illinois woman, was injured. The Forest County Sheriff's Department said fatal snowmobile accidents took place Saturday night in the town of Laona and early Saturday in the town of Blackwell.Feel free to contact us with questions and/or comments.
