Wisconsin Egg Production Up in July

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -Wisconsin egg production during July was 183 million eggs, up two percent from last month and four percent higher than a year earlier.According to the USDA's latest Chickens and Eggs report, the average number of all layers on hand was 7.01 million. That's unchanged from last month, but four percent less hens than in July 2018. Eggs per 100 layers for July were 2,610, up two percent from last month and eight percent more than last year.
Nationally, egg production totaled 9.41 billion during July, up two percent from 2018. Production included 8.20 billion table eggs, and 1.21 billion hatching eggs, of which 1.12 billion were broiler-type and 84.8 million were egg-type. The average number of layers totaled 390 million, down slightly from last summer.
