Granton Man Charged with 7th OWI

-A Granton man has been charged with his 7th OWI.According to court records, the Clark County Sheriff’s Department was called to an accident on Sherwood Road in the Town of Levis. According to the caller, they noticed a man in a vehicle in the ditch. When officers arrived, they found 65-year-old Philip Weichelt in his vehicle in the ditch. He was taken to an area medical facility where he was treated for minor injuries and given a sobriety test. He admitted to drinking earlier in the day and said he swerved to avoid hitting a deer when he drove into the ditch.
According to the individuals who found Weichelt, he asked them not to call the police because if they did he “would go to jail for a really long time.” Weichelt is facing his 7th OWI and is scheduled to appear in court on September 10th.
