Blair Man Fulfills Dream to Marry the Love of his Life

-Jerry Murphy of Blair had a wish to marry the love of his life, Tammy Long.After 28 years of being together, now was the time to do it. As a hospice patient of B-Home Services and Supplies through Black River Memorial Hospital, Jerry knew he did not have much time left. He told caregivers he always wanted to marry Tammy but they could never afford it. When Chaplain, Kevin Newell heard Jerry’s wish, he knew he had to act. With the help of the hospice team at BRMH as well as family and friends, Jerry’s wish finally came true on August 26th, all thanks to Kathy’s Fund. Kathy’s Fund is a designated fund for hospice patients to provide last wishes and unmet needs for families that may not otherwise be able to do so.
The Best Man, Paul Kelly, takes pride knowing that he brought the two together. Paul stated, “Tammy asked me if I would give her riding lessons. I told her that I didn’t have the time but I had a friend who could help her out. They’ve been together ever since!” It was horses that brought Jerry and Tammy together all those years ago.
