(WRN) -At the Capitol, a bill to limit sales of e-cigarettes to those 21 and older.

At the Capitol, a bill to limit sales of e-cigarettes and tobacco products to those 21 and older.

"The goal of this bill to reduce the access for kids to get their hands on tobacco and vaping products."

State Senator Howard Marklein has heard all about vaping by high school students.

"Yes. I've heard from a number of parents that . . . talk about in their schools they refer to the girls' bathroom as the vaping lounge"

Marklein says it's easy for kids to get a hold of e-cigs.

"Eighty percent of our graduating seniors turn 18 in high school. And so it's so easy for kids to get their hands on vaping products, because they know somebody in their school whose 18."

Recent media reports have attributed unusual lung ailments in teenagers to vaping.

"I've heard from high school principals (and) a number of district administrators, all very, very supportive of this. And all have the same concerns that I have, and that is getting these vaping products out of the hands of our kids."

The bill would also raise the age to buy tobacco products to 21.
