Dorchester Man Sentenced for Accident that Resulted in the Death of a Greenwood Man

-A Dorchester man was sentenced in Taylor County Court for charges against him from an accident that killed a Greenwood man.According to court records, back in 2017, Gerald Baker left a party after drinking several beers and drove away. He didn’t know that 24-year-old Ben Gosar was sleeping in the box of the truck. Baker hit the gas hard, lost control of the truck and crashed. Gosar died in a Madison hospital six days later. Back in May, Baker was found guilty of, due to a no contest plea, resisting or obstructing an officer and knowingly operating while revoked.
Two other charges were dismissed and read in. Baker was sentenced to four years of probation with a condition of nine months of jail time. He also must pay $9,872.50 in restitution and he must visit the grave of the victim on July 1st of each year of his probation.
