Neillsville City Council Approves Sale of Industrial Park Land to Xcel Energy
Wednesday, August 28th, 2019 -- 12:42 PM
-The Neillsville City Council had a quick meeting Tuesday afternoon. The council approved the sale of 2.92 acres of land in the industrial park to Xcel Energy for $29,200. It was stated that the land in the industrial park is worth, on average, just over $10,000 an acre. With that figure in mind, the council felt the price from Xcel was fair. The mayor wasn’t sure what Xcel will be doing with that land. The council also approved a rate increase for Neillsville’s Interim Police Chief. Since the resignation of Scott Klueckman earlier this year, Officer Patrick Felman has been acting as Interim Chief at the same rate of pay. After the position was offered to an applicant, but then subsequently turned down, Officer Felman asked for a raise due to the increased work load.
The council didn’t approve his initial request of $28.00 per hour, but they did approve an increase to $26.50 from his current $23.66. That change will take place immediately. Finally, the council approved a $2,500 donation from the Motorhead Mafia Club. They city will be using that money for a new merry-go-round in Schuster Park.
