Neillsville School District Tax Levy Approved at Annual Meeting

-The Neillsville School District’s Annual School Board meeting was held on Monday.The board took care of the usual items on the Annual meeting Agenda including the approval of board salaries and per diems for expenses. The board salaries are $2,500 for the president, $2,100 for the vice president, treasurer and the member and $2,300 for the clerk. The per diem is $100. They also approved allowing administration to sell old and outdated equipment and the purchase of selling any unneeded property. No temporary borrowing was needed. Sometimes a district may need to borrow money temporarily in order to meet their payroll requirements until the funds are available in mid-October. The board also set the next Annual Meeting date for August 31st of 2020.
Some other points of interest mentioned during the meeting included the board’s new member, the new greenhouse, the DPI’s safety grants and resulting projects, a power surge that damaged equipment, the new principals, health insurance, academic and career planning, the state’s new governor, the state’s education task force, a revenue limit increase, a general aid increase, a low revenue increase, special education funding and declining enrollment. In the end, the board, and other community members present, approved the 2019-20 tax levy of $3,796,970.
