Tuesday, February 22nd, 2005 -- 2:06 PM
It was a big morning out at the Malm Farm near Loyal today. They are getting set to host Farm Technology Days in July. Tuesday morning, the first utility poles were installed. They will bring electricity to what?s known as ?Tent City?.
Matt Jorgensen, who serves as executive secretary of the planning committee, was there to witness the seminal moment.
"I'm watching the first pole go down right now!" Jorgensen exclaimed, noting it was the first major visible sign that Farm Technology Days was coming.
Up to 40-thousand people are expected to attend the show July 12th ? 14th. Tent City is the main focus with hundreds of exhibitors. Jorgensen says it operates a bit like a city onto itself.
"We tap in: We have our power supply, we have our own phone system. Everything you need to run a small city for three days, we'll have it."
Jorgensen says planning continues to go well. If you have volunteered, he asks you be patient as planners find a place for you. If you haven?t volunteered for the event that is expected to pump $10-million into the local economy, you can call the extension office at 743-5121 for more information.
