Some Notable Items from Marshfield Police Logs

Friday, August 23rd, 2019 -- 12:42 PM

-Some items of note from the Marshfield Police Department logs include a scam, a stolen car and more.

Just after noon on Thursday, a woman reported she received a call from someone claiming to represent a celebrity. The woman then got a call from someone who claimed to be with the FBI who told the woman she needed to comply with the request for money. The woman followed instructions, bought gift cards and sent the numbers to the callers. The woman, who sent $4,950, got a check back which was no good. Just before 3pm on Wednesday, a caller asked for police to check on a 40-year-old Marshfield man who was acting very strange and had temporarily passed out in the 1700 block of North Central Avenue. Officers found the man, who was drunk, and called an ambulance, because he had fallen and hit his head.

Police also learned the man was court ordered not to consume alcohol and requested charges from the Marathon County District Attorney's Office. And around 3:45am on Thursday, the Taylor County Sheriff's Department reported a car stolen from Taylor County might be in the 1000 block of West Laurel Street. Marshfield police found the car and impounded it. Officers then found the man suspected of stealing the car asleep in another vehicle in a parking lot at the same location. Police arrested the man and took him to the Wood County Jail.
