(WDLB) -Day two of the Central Wisconsin State Fair in Marshfield was most notably about the animals.

The annual Market Animal Sale took center stage in the Jer Lang Show Palace last night. Nearly 150 animals were sold, for a total of just over 289-thousand dollars. The grand champion steer was sold by Brenna Thorson of the Wood County Junior Holsteins to Seehafer Dairy for eight-dollars a pound. The reserve champion market steer sold by Ryenne Zee of the Marshfield F-F-A went to General Farm Supply for 3.75 a pound. Madeline Bernick of the Golden Glow 4-H had the grand champion dairy steer, which went to Draxler Transport, Nasonville Dairy, Chips of Marshfield and Wisconsin Rapids and Doine Excavating for three-dollars and 25-cents per pound. The reserve champion dairy steer sold by Ellisa Frederickson of the Badger 4-H went for 2.25 per pound, and was bought by the Hay Creek Pallet Company.

Martina Schulz of the Pittsville F-F-A sold the Grand Champion market lamb to Kremer Consulting for 11.50 a pound. Rebecca Sturgis of the Pittsville F-F-A sold the reserve champion market lamb to Hewitt’s Meat Processing and Power Pac of Marshfield for twelve-dollars a pound. Reese Brock of the Auburndale F-F-A had the Grand Champion market hog, which sold for 6.75 a pound to I-State Truck Center and Assembly Systems. Paige Brock sold the reserve champion market hog to After All, Incorporated for 7.50 a pound. Meanwhile, on the grandstand stage Jacob Bryant performed.

Earlier in the day the Memories played two afternoon shows to near capacity crowds in the family entertainment tent. And Executive Director Dale Christiansen said the carnival made its debut yesterday as well. This is the second year the fair has had North American Midway Entertainment, which has brought 21 rides to this year’s fair. They are billed as the world’s largest traveling amusement company. Daily wristbands are available for 25-dollars, or individual tickets sell for 1.25. Coming up tonight, Christiansen is looking forward to the Grammy Award-winning Kentucky Headhunters. As always, tonight’s grandstand show starts at 7:30.
