Owen City Council Approves Bid for Millpond Trail Connector Project

-The Owen City Council approved a project bid at their meeting last week.The council approved awarding the Millpond Trail Connector Bid to Haas Sons, Inc for $77,150. The council also approved the 2020 CDBG Street and Utility Improvements, which includes 5th Street and Colman Street, to Professional Design and Construction Engineering Services Proposal to Cedar Corporation for a fee ‘Not to Exceed’ $202,140 and they approved the 2020 CDBG Grant Administration Proposal between Cedar Corp and the City of Owen for $25,000. They also heard an update on the Ad Hoc Committee and they approved Owen’s Mayor to attend the Chief Executive Workshop in Elkhart Lake August 21st through the 23rd. Finally, the council heard the Community Development Authority’s Report.
Tim Swiggum encouraged all that could to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony for River Country Coop, which was held on Thursday, August 15th. He also said they have a very promising land partner in the area who will be attending the executive meeting of the Farm Technology Days Committee with Tim. He also mentioned the Car Show and Street Dance. Finally, he stated the equalized values from the state came out and the city if up from $49,000,000 to over $54,000,000. This 9% growth is well above the County average of 3%.
