Marshfield Medical Center-Neillsville Breaks Ground on New Facility

Tuesday, August 20th, 2019 -- 11:54 AM

"And the analogy is dot-to-dots. As kids, we all played dot-to-dots. We start off with a piece of paper and we see dots, which doesn't make sense. But we know each dot is important. As we connect them, we come up with a beautiful picture. This project is about connecting dots. Strategic partners, two health systems being connected, patients needs, a city all being connected."

And with those words from CEO Ryan Neville, Marshfield Medical Center-Neillsville’s new facility took a tremendous step forward Monday afternoon. Leadership at Marshfield Medical Center and Marshfield Medical Center-Neillsville were in attendance, as well as many others, to celebrate the ground breaking of the new facility that will be located off River Avenue, just outside of Neillsville. Ryan also thanked all those that helped make the project possible.

"Because of your work ethic and your patience, we know when this is built, amazing things are going to happen."

Ryan also said that the ground breaking was a celebration of, not only a new facility, but a healthier community.

"The end picture of connecting these dots is not a building. It's not a campus with modern technology and modern equipment, even though that will be nice! The end picture is that we have a healthier community that's living longer with a higher quality of life."

What began as a project that would have seen Memorial Medical Center build a facility on their own with a loan from the USDA, has turned into this massive acquisition with Marshfield Medical Center to build a new 100,000 square foot, $45 million facility that will have 16 in-patient beds, two operating rooms, an infusion center, a multi-specialty clinic with 29 exam rooms, a wellness center with YMCA oversight and expanded lab and radiology facilities. The facility will also be the new home of Sniteman Pharmacy, Art of Optometry and Neillsville Care and Rehab. As of now, the facility will begin seeing patients in February of 2021.

Neillsville Mayor Charles Glassbrenner summed up the exciting afternoon with his words spoken during the ceremony.

"I think the words that need to be said today are thank you. Thank you to the hundreds and hundreds of people, over the last 65 years, that have taken care of us. More specialists. Less time on the road. Same quality care."
